Shri Narendra Modi's Address to Bharat- Hits the Point.

I will need to accept that I have been listening to Shri Narendra Modi's speech in youtube since i heard his speech after he took over as the Honourable Prime Minister of India. Though, I don't understand much Hindi, but I admit that whatever i understand hits the spot right in the center. What a man, what an orator.

Shri Narendra Modi on the occasion of 68th Independence Day
Of India
His address to Bharat on the 68th Independence day (15th August 2014) began by thanking all previous governments and his predecessors- such courtesy is rare to see in this world of jealousy and hatred. I have heard no one doing this let alone politicians and political parties.

Honourable Prime Minister touched upon some small yet very important points. He touched upon the cleanliness and requiring proper and clean toilets in schools and villages. He understood the need of basic facilities which we generally tend to overlook. He placed much importance to basic issues of clean environment and investing in education. I wrote an article "Most Comfortable Place on Earth" on 17th September 2012. I am not appreciating his speech because he talked on what I think is important, but because what he spoke is true. He stated that, everyone should dedicate one year in building restrooms in each schools so that during 69th Independence day "we can proudly say that we have toilets in each school in India".

Shri Modi also touched on the importance of working in close collaboration to each other. He said if 1.2 billion Indian develop one good habits, India would move 1.2 billion steps ahead and "what would that mean to the country". He said every citizen is important for the well being and security of the country. He quoted Lal Bahadur Shastri 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' - Victory to Armed forces, victory to farmers. He explained that 'like Arm forces maintain the security, peace and stability of the country, our farmers produce food for the country. 'Make an India' and 'Made in India' is one of the strong points he made during the address to Bharat. He said how can women kill another women in same house for the greed. He urged every doctors to discourage female foeticide. He said, it is the collective responsibilities of all citizens to take care of their old aged parents and to avoid gender discrimination. He said, Indian athletes recently made India proud by bringing 64 medals in the country of which 29 is brought by females, 'let us all applaud these 29 females'. He said everyone is looking for skilled work force and India is no different. It is high time we invest in skill development of our young citizens.

He pointed out an issue on terrorism and rape. He said all rapists  and terrorists are son and daughters of a parents. It is the collective responsibilities of all parents to ensure that their children choose the right path and avoid taking innocent lives. If all parents think positive and care their children, India will not see rapist and terrorism. People will start looking at India with respect.

'Every Indian should have access to good medical facilities'. He said India should capture the skills and human resource strength of the country and start modern facilities like tele medicines and good governance. Excellency made an interesting point that, 'those working in Private firm says - I am doing a job, but those working in Government says- I am doing service'. Such mentality is leading to development of complacency and those working in Government feels that they are doing service because of which they feel that they should be treated differently.

He stressed on the importance of investing in manufacturing sector to reduce import and increase export. He said Indians have talents and skills, he said 'Come, make; India-papers, plastics, satellite, automobiles, electricity etc. Sell our product anywhere in the world but make in India. Our dream should be to see everywhere products with "Made in India'. "Our aim for our products should  be Zero Defects and Zero Effects". He stressed that products coming from India should have zero defect and also zero effects to environment in the process of manufacturing.

Off all the points addressed by Honourable Prime Minister of India, I was touched by "Everything is not for us, there are somethings that should be nation's- Lets stop thinking about 'What about me?, What's mine? and look at the Nation".

"We should have dreams- if we have dreams we can achieve it"
"Development of Nation should start from development of village"
"If you work for 12 hours, I shall work for 13 hours. If you work for 14 hours, I shall work for 15 hours. I didn't come as Prime Minister but as servants to all citizens of India"- Shri Narendra Modi.

Cordyceps

This article is part of my thesis “Fuelwood Consumption and Production in Alpine Bhutan: A case study in Wangchuck Centennial Park, Bumthang, Bhutan). I have also worked on uses of Cordyceps in Pharmaceutical industries long time back, but could not trace out as of now. If people are interested I will try to re-write it and publish it. I have also cited references, in-case if any readers is interested to explore further. I will also try to provide papers to those who are interested to know more about the organism. What is Cordyceps Cordyceps sinensis is an Ascomycetes medical fungus with a long and illustrious history. The genus Cordyceps is mostly entomophagous flask fungi belonging to the family Clavicipataceae (Winkler, 2008). Although it is not actually a mushroom in the taxonomic sense, it has been regarded as a medicinal mushroom for centuries. The name Cordyceps comes from the Latin words “cord” and “ceps”, meaning, “club” and “head”, respectively (Holliday et al., 2005). Th

Non-Wood Forest Products (NWFPs) or Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs)

Both Non-Wood Forest Products (NWFPs) and Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) refers to what is earlier known as Minor Forest Products (MFPs). The use of "MFPs" terminology has been discontinued as it seems to greatly mis-guide the produce. For instance collection and trade of Cordyceps ( Ophiocordyceps sinensis ) by high alpine dwellers and even Chirata ( Swertia chirata ) in the east (Shigkhar Lauri) contributes more than 50% of their annual earnings, which of-course is clear that these forest products doesnot justify to be called as minor. NWFPs and NTFPs are two very similar yet different terminologies adopted to address these produce of forest other than timber. In short it includes everything besides timber. Rattan Shoot In Bhutan we use NWFP and it is defined in the National Forest Policy of Bhutan, 2011as, "NWFP means resin, varnish, katha, kutch, plants, flowers, seeds, bamboo, bulbs, roots, leaves, grasses, creepers, reeds, orchids, cane, fungi, moss, medic

The Mighty Manas River and Future of "SHE"

The Manas River is a trans-boundary river in the Himalayan foothills between southern Bhutan and India . It is named after Manasa , the serpent god in Hindu Mythology . It is the largest river system of Bhutan, among its four major river systems; the other three are Amo Chu or Toorsa , Wang Chu or Raidak, Puna Tsang Chhu or Sunkoosh . The total length of the river is 376 kilometres, flows through Bhutan for 272 kilometres and then through Assam for 104 kilometres before it joins the mighty Brahmaputra River . Mighty Manas River is formed by merging two rivers, viz. Dangme Chhu and Mangde Chhu in a place called Dung-du-me brag and Un-dhala thang in Panbang.
